April 2024 – Joint Meeting w/ William Parkman Lodge
April 2024 Regular Communication
This month, by dispensation of the Grand Master, we are holding a joint meeting with William Parkman Lodge A.F. & A.M. located in Woburn, MA. The work of the evening includes conferral of the 2nd Degree on William Parkman’s candidates, and select Pythagorean Lodge officers will assist William Parkman in the work. Our Senior Warden, Bro. Darrell McTague, will deliver the “Long Form” of the Middle Chamber lecture (by dispensation of the Grand Master). This “long form” is not contained in Massachusetts ciphers, is rarely seen in our Jurisdiction, and is quite impressive indeed. It expands on “the other 6” arts & sciences, as well as the senses, the orders, and even those curious globes atop two columns. If you enjoy the Middle Chamber lecture (or ritual in general), you’ll surely want to attend.
Attendance & Meeting RSVP:
We encourage all members of the Lodge to attend if possible! If you do plan to make it, please contact our Senior Warden (dwmctague@pythagoreanlodge.org) so he can provide accurate headcounts for not just dinner, but the meeting in general. We expect high attendance, and we want our host Lodge to be able to prepare appropriately.
Dinner Menu:
Meal will be catered, menu TBA upon details from WPL’s officer team. Cost: $20 per person
If you plan to arrive in Woburn by 6:00 pm for dinner, please inform our Senior Warden (dwmctague@pythagoreanlodge.org)
Collation & Fellowship:
Our hosts do have collation & fellowship following their meetings, just like Pythagorean does. There will be dessert, libations, and water / soft drinks available. There is also opportunity for cigars for those interested via doors right off the dining hall (where collation is held).
Carpooling:
For those interested in carpooling, please contact our Senior Warden at dwmctague@pythagoreanlodge.org and indicate:
– if you want to drive, ride, or either
– where you can meet (our Lodge or out-of-town)
– if you want to arrive for dinner (6:00 pm) or Lodge open (7:00 pm)
– if you want to leave a.) immediately after close, b.) after brief to moderate stay at collation, or c.) “until they’re kickin’ us out”
With this information, Bro. McTague will assist in coordinating carpools and suggested meet / depart times.
Travel Considerations:
Typical travel time from Pythagorean Lodge to William Parkman Lodge is ~1 hr 15 min (traffic-dependent). The most direct route is I-195E => I-495N => 24N => I-93S toward I-95N. This route is generally the opposite direction of evening traffic, which should make the trip smoother.
